by After a recent issue on vent regarding spamming, I have now changed the server properties so that only 2 guests (from the previous 25) can log onto the server at one time. As well as that Guests are No Longer allowed to use Global Chat. Plus guests have an IP limit.
A Guest is a user without a tag, and so I'll be making new members of the guild their own account after their one week trial is up. This should prevent anything like spamming we just had.

but also means you can only have 2 trail members on vent at a time

Is that why I am getting a You Are Banned when I try to set up Vent for the server? Is there a password btw?

There is no password for the vent no, however the 2 guest limit is still in force on our vent.
You could have been blocked for another reason if you log onto vent, but don't have the same username that one of our members can recognise from AoC or other game we play often if you don't talk or say anything we will just ban you. It sounds harsh I know but we do get an awful lot of randomers who just pop on.
